a while as usual
So I rarely sit down to blog these days. It's not because I don't have anything interesting to say or share, it's just I don't have the time or mental effort necessary to share :D So let's just jump in.
1. As professed before I love podcasts. I fall asleep to many a NPR podcasts every night, I run on the treadmill at the gym hearing about all the most recently emailed stories from NPR, and so on. I do lots of NPR. About 15 different NPR types of stories. There are two other podcasts that I listen to though and LOVE. One is "how stuff works". It's awesome. You learn all kinds of crazy fascinating information. For example how Nascar developed from the bootlegging business during prohibition. Amazing eh? The other podcast that I love is TWiT- this week in tech. Awesome gods of technology- they are abosolutely fun and informative to listen to and I love when they talk about nerdy stuff that I actually know about. It's awesome :D So if you're needing something new to listen to, try these out.
2. I love shopping AND I love a bargin. This is why I love the thrift stores (great when you outgrow your skinny jeans or need some new skinny jeans), yard sales (unfortunatly love sleeping in too much so these are a rarity), the internet (yeayy!), JBF (consignment sale), craigslist (ahh- love), and coupons. I have recently been trying to "shop for free" via the bigtent group by the same name. I'm learning and it is time and labor intensive at first- but hell- for a stay at home mom who spends a lot of time doing other things, spending time trying to save as much money as possible is a welcome challenge. So my first attempt was safeway and here is the details: Grand total spent was 150.61, 19.50 in coupons, savings of 94.54 (most was club card price); total savings percentage of 38.5%. My goal is to at least get to a 50% savings all the time. What did I buy- everything! From produce to chicken I got a ton of food that we normally use (no junk just because I had a coupon) and saved some serious money. If I had the system totally down I would have saved an additional $20, but I now know what to do :D My next project will be at rite aid to see if I can stock up on healthcare items for practically free. We'll see.
3. I have problems and control issues. It's all in my head. Everyone is a bit crazy. My sister is getting married and I'm trying to help and be nice at the same time. The other day at the thrift store with her I had to walk away and take a moment staring and rifling through stuff. Sometimes I just need to intensly focus on something extremely detail oriented and mundane. Comes in handy sometimes. We were arguing about which color would look best, what style, what I think she should do and what she wanted to do and I just started shaking and had to itch my scalp to keep from flipping out. Control. I run things through my head in my own perfect vision and order and when it doesn't go that way, well, if I'm stressed or upset I just get a little wild. I'm a terrible back seat driver because this way that I think, I'm a turn left at the first available chance, or turn right at the red. Also a keep driving until I get my bearings straight instead of stopping to figure it out. It annoys others I know, but it makes me happy and work correctly. That and a nice healthy dose of antidepressants so I don't fly off the handle :D Other examples- hate the way dan rinses off his toothbrush. Drives me freakin batty. Or the way some people fold laundry or do dishes. Especially if they are mine. Computer? I MUST do that google search. I click incessantly while waiting for things to load. Spelling mistake? No time to use the mouse to go back and correct that one misplaced letter- I must always stay busy so I hit backspace and retype everything.
4. I go to bed too late for my own good often. Like now, so I'm going.
Good night ;D
